Frequently asked questions

Helpful information before getting started
Do you only treat women?

Whilst Seasons Psychology has a strong focus on women's mental health, we are an inclusive practice that welcomes and supports people of all genders. Our commitment is to provide respectful and affirming care to anyone who seeks support, because mental health matters for everyone.

Do I need a referral to book a session?

No referral is needed to access our services. You're welcome to book directly at any time. However, if you have a Mental Health Care Plan or an Eating Disorders Treatment and Management Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates.

How much does a session cost?

Individual sessions: $230 per 50-minute session with Psychologist

Couples sessions: $250 per 60-minute session with Psychologist

Medicare rebates may apply to individual sessions if you have an eligible referral. There currently are no Medicare rebates for couples counselling.

The current APS & AAPi National Schedule of Recommended Fees 2024-2025 has the standard 46-60 minute consultation fee at $311. At Seasons Psychology, we strive to keep access to mental health care accessible to the community, as such our current fee is below what is recommended.

Can I get a Medicare rebate?

Seasons Psychology is able to provide psychological services under the Better Access initiative with Medicare. You may be able to access rebates for your sessions using a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and referral from your GP. Clients can access up to 10 rebated sessions under their MHCP, in a calendar year.

For eligible clients who have a valid Eating Disorders Treatment & Management plan (EDP) and referral from your GP, you can access up to 40 rebated sessions in a calendar year.

Medicare rebates with a General Psychologist are currently $98.95 per session.

Please note that a MHCP or EDP is not required to book an appointment. If you are not eligible or do not wish to obtain a MHCP, you can attend the appointment as a full fee client.

If you wish to use your MHCP or EDP for rebated sessions, please send this to info@seasonspsychologyservices.com.au.

Is there a cancellation fee?

We understand that sometimes plans change. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly ask for 24 hours notice.

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice or failure to attend a session, will incur the full session fee. This cancellation fee is not claimable under Medicare.

This policy helps us to manage our schedule and offer timely appointments to those on our waitlist. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Do you offer appointments in-person and via Telehealth?

We offer services in person at Sunbury and via telehealth Australia wide.

In person: Tuesday to Thursday

Telehealth: Tuesday to Friday

Do you accept third party referrals?

We currently accept referrals through WorkCover and the Transport Accident Commision (TAC).

At this time, we do not accept referrals through DVA or EAP.

We accept clients funded through VOCAT if your referral is self-managed. You are welcome to attend sessions and then claim the rebate yourself through the VOCAT portal. We can provide any supportive documentation you may need to make the claiming process as straightforward as possible.

If you're unsure about your eligibility or funding type, feel free to get in touch. We're happy to clarify your options.

Are equine-assisted therapy sessions currently available?

Equine assisted services are not currently being offered at this time. However, we hope to offer this service again in the future. If you're interested we invite you to email us to register your interest. We'll be in touch when sessions become available.

Do you provide reports, letters or assessments?

Seasons Psychology does not conduct formal diagnostic assessments (such as ADHD, autism or cognitive testing).

Letters of support are provided when clinically appropriate and aligned with the goals of therapy.

Seasons Psychology can prepare court reports for criminal law matters. Court reports are not provided for family law or personal injury cases.

Psychological court reports are not eligible for Medicare rebates.

Reports will not be released until such time that fees for the report are paid in full. 50% of the fee of a report is collected on commencement of the writing of the report.

Our reports are provided after we have seen the client for at least two times (more sessions may be required). The sessions will be charged at our general consultation rate.

The cost of a standard report will be $1,850 (Incl GST). The cost of a complex court report for those needing detailed documentation reviews or additional psychometric testing will start at $2,600 (Incl GST).

Do you offer psychological services to participants of the NDIS?

Seasons Psychology can offer psychological services to clients who have a self-managed NDIS plan.
